USPTA programs
Little Tennis is the nation's tennis equivalent to Little League Baseball, soccer or basketball. The program has been designed by the United States Professional Tennis Association -- the world's largest and oldest organization of tennis-teaching professionals. It includes a structured program of lessons and play designed to move children ages 3-10 quickly through the transitional stages of graduated equipment to full-court tennis. Learn more.
Established in 1990, Tennis Across AmericaTM is the original, free, grassroots lesson program. Its goal is to introduce the game to children and adults who have not experienced it. However, free clinics are not restricted to new players, but may be open to former players or even current players who want to jump-start their spring activity. Others may target people who would not have an opportunity to play except through a special event arranged by a USPTA Professional.
Tennis Across America has grown into a multifaceted program that has reached hundreds of thousands of people through three distinctive program segments. The three-phase program provides opportunities to grow the game of tennis through special multicultural clinics, nationwide free clinics hosted by volunteer professionals, and a follow-up program of lessons and league play designed to retain player interest. The USPTA Junior Circuit™ is a series of tournaments created to introduce less experienced junior players to competition and allow them to prepare for higher-level tournament play. The junior circuit is also a natural progression from advanced Little Tennis® to non-qualified competition for junior boys and girls ages 10 to 18. This program enhances tournament experience and prepares the player for more advanced competition at USTA-sanctioned tournaments, if that is the player’s goal. Learn more.
Lessons for Life became USPTA’s national charitable program in 1999. The USPTA and its members have raised more than $40 million since the program’s inception. Through this program, the USPTA encourages its members to use tennis as a vehicle to help others through fundraisers and other activities in their communities. Many of the fundraisers take place at country clubs and commercial clubs, where the majority of USPTA Professionals direct tennis operations and programming. Fundraisers take the form of tournaments, pro-ams, auctions, black-tie dinners and clinics. Learn more.
